Did anyone else listen to Monique's first day on Jack this morning? Despite whatever talent she may have, her voice is very difficult to listen to. It is very scratchy and crackly, almost as if she'd lost her voice and was just starting to get it back. Further, I do not think that this is out of the norm for her. Her voice was just as scratchy on the promos that Jack has been running for her show. She does seem like a nice enough person, but I just really don't see how people will be able to absorb that voice for four hours a day. Only time will tell, but I think that Tracy Johnson may have made a $5 million mistake.

Monique the comedienne?

Have you heard her voice? Is it something that you'd want to listen to on your commute?

I've checked in a few times yesterday and today, and I'll admit that she certainly has a husky set of pipes. But still - two days are not enough to decide whether something is bad or good. (That's the sort of snap decision they make in TV, God help 'em.)

I will admit to not having been blown away by what I've heard so far. The constraints of the format probably have a lot to do with that - it's hard to get to know a morning host when they have to play 2 or 3 songs between each bit.

I'm sure she has some kinda credentials or talent. Vox does remind me a bit of Edith Bunker tho.

although I've never heard of her, apparently she's at least a semi famous commedian so she ostensibly does bring talent to the table. My issue is purely with her voice. she could be saying the most interesting thing that anyone has ever said, but her voice is so grating that it makes me immediately change the station. I just can't imagine people waking up in the morning and wanting to spend their commute with that voice. It's not a question at all of her talent.

What is wrong with her voice? It's no worse than Laura Cain's voice at KMYI.

Monique has been on all week by the way...

When I have listened to the morning show, it seemed like the three are not meshing. It's like she's not part of the "in-crowd" with Greg and Sarah.

To me, it sounds uncomfortable.

I would imagine it would take time for 3 people to come together as a show. Give them a couple of months...Jeff n Jer didn't take the town by storm in their first week.

I disagree...
Jeff an Jer were only on Y95 for a couple of years before they became very successful in a very short time. And, you are confusing apples and oranges, because Jeff and Jer were already a team before they came to San Diego, and both had long careers in radio. Monique neither has a long career in radio, nor has she had any working experience with the people she is paired up with. I think it is a LONG stretch to compare the two. A better analogy would be Jagger and Kristi, a team that Tracy Johnson helped build, but even they had previous experience in radio.

Just my half cent...

the only point being made was that it does not make sense to judge any morning show in their first week whether they have worked together before or not. Obviously a show that has been together will progress more quickly but a new show in a new town will take time to take on the sound of the town and connect with an audience.
