McIntosh MR-78 and MR-80 Futility In The Age Of IBOC And Second Adjacent Channel Translators

The McIntosh MR-78 and MR-80 were the best tuners ever made in many respects, certainly at the time they were made. You could reliably regularly tune many stations from other nearby markets in Major Markets with 20 stations four Channels apart, even with a dipole or rabbit ears. Now, with most of those using IBOC, and nearly every second adjacent channel with a translator or LPFM or even Canadian/Mexican border squeeze ins on it, even getting nearby market stations that used to come in well is futile, even with these wonderful tuners. I bought an MR-80 at an estate sale for 1/4 retail, and had it recapped, but it should be brought to a rural area to DX with. Has anyone had any luck building a really high Front to Side Ratio antenna like on Brian Beezley's K6STI site? Can the antenna get rid of IBOC sidebands and translator interference? BTW, if you buy McIntosh, buy the MR-78, as it has DXer friendly vs. audiophile friendly features of the MR-80.
