Rich- If you are technically oriented, you may be able to find a similar inductor that could be used in place of the OEM part. It would be one with a core. Might start with a handheld head demagnetizer, small hand held tape eraser or AC solenoid. Whatever it is, it would need to fit in the physical space and not damage the drive circuit in the 99B for the eraser. If the existing erase core is completely not working, maybe take it out and dismantle it. Maybe it can be repaired. Was ITC controlling the erase coil with an SCR, using the incoming 120 vac? Or did they use a transformer secondary with maybe 48 vac? Presumably tape head demagnetizing was not necessary with the 99B, unless the erase coil had a very focused field.
