Lon Sosh ("Big Dady Babalou") WRUS Russellville dies

He was also heard on KQ101 (now "the Beat") as the article states, and he was also heard over WDXN in Clarksville (now WKFN "the Sports Fan") and "Cat Country 105.1," which is now "Solid Gospel 105," so he was heard, at least peripherally, in Nashville, although apparently never over any actual Nashville stations.

He also assisted in the marketing of a weight-loss cookie in infomercials heard over WWCR shortwave, and he owned Lon's Sportsworld, a sporting goods store in McKenzie, TN.

For a while Sosh was radio voice for Kentucky High School state basketball championships. IIRC Riherd's Sports was network sponsor circa 1983. Sorry to learn of his passing.

Years ago I regularly listened to him on WRUS AM from southern Davidson County (literally across the street from the Williamson County line). Just for grins, I mailed him a reception report and included some favorable comments on his show. He was gracious in his reply - thanking me for the report and for listening. He and his morning program were a class act.
