Scott "Scooter" Segraves Retires After 50 Of Radio
Country KXKC/LAFAYETTE, LA says a tearful goodbye to veteran radio guru SCOTT "SCOOTER" SEGRAVES who retires today after 50+ years in the business. He has been with KXKC for the past 13 years and served as afternoon driver until last year when he stepped down to take on production director duties. MD SEAN RILEY told ALL ACCESS that SEGRAVES was a class act that would be sorely missed by everyone.

Scott is THAT old? I guess I am, too. Of course, he was younger in this picture from the 1960s.

Congratulations, Scott - may you have many happy years of "retirement"!

Well, roughly 20 years ago, he came to my class at Carver Junior High School to speak about radio during our career fair. I still remember a lot of what he said, and it still rings true!

I agree. Hardly a better guy in radio!

Scooter B. scoots to the sidelines

Have fun Scooter B.

He taught me how to say "Washington" in only five words after an afternoon newscast when I was 20 years old.

He walked into the newsroom and said simply, "There's no R in Washington."

This Okie never forgot :)

I worked with Scooter in the early 1970's at KAKC the rockin 97. He was one of the best in the business then and I'm sure to the very last show he remained that way.

Adios Mudder-roo-oos, you will be missed on the airwaves.

Adios, Scott! Here's a link to a recent audio file - Scott's career was to be celebrated in Tulsa; he could not attend and sent this audio instead. Great to hear him again.
