Special Temporary Authority (STA) request

Dear Licensee:
This reply refers to the above-captioned request for Special Temporary Authority submitted
November 22, 2022 for KXLI. This STA request was electronically signed by Eric Palacios on behalf of the licensee. The STA request seeks authority to use the KXLI-FM1 booster facility to broadcast KXLI’s programming directly to a limited area, since KXLI’s “lease has been terminated.”
We are not persuaded that KXLI has in fact lost use of its licensed main transmitter site. The licensee has not filed any notification that the station is silent (and what date the main facility went silent), nor has it given any indication as to when access to the licensed site was (or will be) terminated. Nor is it apparent that such termination is beyond the licensee’s control.
Consequently, we do not find that the licensee has provided ample justification to warrant the grant of Special Temporary Authority. This STA request is therefore DENIED.
