KXAS-TV and Its "Heidi" moment

KXAS opted to go straight to news for a reason, North Texas is dealing with a major cold snap with temps in the low teens and ERCOT was telling us to conserve power due to the extreme cold. North Texans are used to Minnesota cold, this is not our kind of weather and it's more important to cover the then-ongoing snow/sleet/ice storm then it was to air a NFL playoff team of a team that wasn't even our team, Fox 4 on the other hand, aired a local newscast as soon as the Cowboys/Packers game (and the Cowboys season in general) ended to cover the really cold weather.

To be fair, if you lived in North Texas, you want to find out what's going on with the winter weather & the power grid over a football game not involving the Cowboys after what happened in "The Great Freeze of 2021" where rolling blackouts and negative single digit temps hit North Texas hard.

Also it was a technical snafu at KXAS' control room's end where a update for NBC DFW on social media, Peacock/RokuTV and NBC 5's website accidently made air as Rick Mitchell was explaining the latest weather update:
