What first? At 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning, Brawley TX was off; Campo repeating "test" program. Was in Irvine Sat.,
don't know when Brawley went dark. Problem: CP authorizes TX testing for duration of CP, in this case until 11:59:59
1/9/10.. don't know when Campo popped off. Obvious violation, Reference FCC 73.1610.
They probably used the Brawley back up exciter for "testing", 10-30 watts or so. With a antenna gain, could be 40
to 130 watts or so.
Correcting the antenna model to "6600" , all horizontal polarization. Probably for several reasons; lower price.
Better coverage in hilly areas, some people argue. Lower power costs;takes 1/2 the drive power of a CP array
to achieve the same field strength. Tradeoff,-lower signal to vertical receive antennas.
Just speculation... old transmitter equipment might be installed at Campo.
