Knowlton Nash 1927-2014

Knowlton Nash is dead at age 86, after more than 12 years of being afflicted with Parkinson's Disease. Nash served as host of CBC's "The National" for over a decade, and as CBC's Washington correspondent and as direction of news and information programming (in which capacity he appointed himself host of "The National" to succeed Lloyd Robertson).

He stepped down from "The National" voluntarily to make the spot available to Peter Mansbridge to keep Mansbridge from leaving to accept an offer from CBS to host one of their frequent attempts at a morning news show. (Instead, CBS hired Harry Smith, who somewhat resembles Mansbridge.)
