Lately, every time I call up the site, I get this:

11:45 pm - Huey Lewis And The News - Who Cares
11:49 pm - Electric Light Orchestra - Hold On Tight
11:52 pm - John Mellencamp - Human Wheels
11:57 pm - Greg Kihn - Testify
12:01 am - Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
12:03 am - Five Men Electrical Band - Signs

Playing Now: 12:07 am - Journey - Wheel In The Sky

I am making this post just after 5:30 am local, and those same songs and times have been up for a couple DAYS now. I've even tried the refresh button so I know it's not my computer.

I hope it's not a sign of the station's end. If so, I have a lot of blank tapes to unwrap.

Not to mention the fact that the mp3 and wma web streams are gone. It's always seemed inevitable that KCDX, like all Ted Tucker's properties, will sell. Is that day now? Dunno.

Re: KCDX

Glowing newspaper and magazine articles notwithstanding, KCDX's main reason for existing is to block anyone from using 103.1 or adjacent channels in the Tucson market. Tucker and family are very likely trying to move one of their stations from the east into metro Tucson. Possible stations to be moved are Vail on 98.5, Tombstone on 95.1 and Lordsburg on 103.7. All will entail frequency swaps to get them into the lower 103 range, give or take. Those swaps could take several more years. Then KCDX might be moved closer to Phoenix. Meanwhile it is unlikely that KCDX would be sold unless many strings were attached to the sale. Enormous capital gains are the Tucker game plan, not free music.

KCDX was absent from the airwaves on Sunday, after most of the snow fell. KRDE was also down. Don't know for sure, but it likely was a power failure...

Last weekend the entire Globe-Miami area extending to Young and beyond was in the black when a SRP transmission line failed. Heavy wet snow took out the line with power returning to the APS substation Sunday afternoon. Continued outages, including the APS line to the Pinal mountains through out the night with full restoration running out to Monday afternoon. All stations including KRDE, KCDX, KZAI,KVJC,the KJZZ translator and the TV translators were dark for about 24 hours. The mountain to had a 3 to 5 foot snow accumulation. No serious danage was sustained.

Well, glad to know the de-icers worked while the juice was on!

I know...old thread...same problem...

Only broken once every 15 years isn't a bad record, is it? :sneaky:

Not that anybody here gives two whit's about the place...

Proceed with caution - that is all.

I still wish the audio stream was something more reasonable.. The "chunked" audio blobs of the m3u8 URL are challenging for some third-party players... A simple Icecast/Shoutcast feed would be nice..

The fact it still has any web presence is welcomed. Shoe-string operation at its finest!
