Is something up at KYSR/Los Angeles?

One of two CC Hot ACs in LA, KYSR has been jockless this weekend and is appearing to have technical difficulties? Could a format flip be coming and to what? Ideas are that CC might either bring it's spanish oldies format La Precosia to 98.7 or flip it to Variety Hits to compete against Jack or even just do a tweaking of the present Hot AC format. Of course, many people have long suggested that CC needs to cut lose one of the two HACs(the other being KBIG) but of course that could just prompt a HAC competitor from either Infinity(KRTH drops it's oldies format in favor of HAC) or Emmis(KZLA drops country).

So what do you all see at 98.7/LA?<P ID="signature">______________

It is quite possible that Star 98.7 could flip to the Spanish Oldies format, knowing that Clear Channel is jumping on this format's band wagon, but doesn't Star bill very well? If Star does flip to another format, I doubt Infinity would flip KRTH to Hot Adult Contemporary, because that would cause competition against Jack. It would be a dumb decision. If Star flips, a failing station ratings/revenue wise, could flip to Hot Adult Contemporary. Don't know much about the Los Angeles radio market though. Clear Channel could change KBIG perhaps?

Nothing more than a reimaging.

KYSR and KBIG are both HAC, but both very distinctive in their imaging and marketing. KSYR is more straight line current Hits, while KBIG throws a good helping of disco and 80s into the mix. Screw Channel could delete one, but to keep the listners of both, it would probably have to merge the distinctive programming of the two into one unit. To that end the surviving HAC would have more of a KBIG sound.
