Is Jammin Oldies big again?

N

Guest
With stations in NY (Mix, KTU) Boston (Star HD), Chicago (re-tooling Love), and other HD stations soon to be signing on with jammin oldies/rhythmic ac, is this format "the thing" again? Mix and KTU lean heavy on it and are in competition with each other over it. I think it can survive if most stations follow Star's lead in Boston by mixing classic r&b, current dance-pop, and disco. Am I wrong or is this the intuition on other people's minds as well?

The format stuck and is very successful in San Diego and Cincinnati (probably other places too that i dont know about) on the main FM dial. My fave has always been Mega 104.3/99.3 Phoenix for its diverse playlist. I mean, on what other jamming oldies station can you hear TLC, Mark Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Black Box and some deep freestyle track all in the same hour! The old Mega? in Miami was really cool too with some classic dance in rotation.
Edited by saladdressing on 01/21/06 06:04 AM.

Jammin' 105.9 is still on in Austin. Not as much disco as they were playing in 1999.
