Forgot one!

WCCB 18 in Charlotte, NC

Just curious ... I've seen these posts of yours about long-forgotten (and deservedly so) children's cartoons of the '80s for years, most never getting a response, and have to wonder what the fascination is with long lists of call letters and cities. Is this just a personal obsession or are there others silently keeping score with you?

Well, I admit it is a personal obsession, but I'm not the only one who has it. Alva Jr. was the first one to do these listings. As for not getting responses... it happened once, when wtxf29fan788 added a station to my Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors list. However, I know people are reading these posts, because some of them have gotten hundreds or even thousands of views. I guess I assumed that people who weren't interested in the listings would just ignore them (although there was a complaint a while back in Alva's Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs thread). I'm sorry if I've been posting too often on the Classic TV board; it's just that my free trial at Newspapers.com is almost up, and I intend to make full use of it while I can. Thanks for reading!

Found another one!

Renewed your Newspapers.com subscription, did you?

Forgive me, but "This is Kaiser Broadcasting" brings back '70s memories for me, babysitting my 10-years-younger brother and having to watch "Kimba The White Lion," "Astro Boy" and "Speed Racer" with him on WKBG Boston. Ugh! Those shows were pretty bad, but I think I might have gone off the deep end completely if I'd been forced to watch any of those '80s toons!

Warning, incoming rant! I started another free trial at newspapers.com, but everything I tried to access was part of a new program called "Publisher Extra", which means that even if you have a basic subscription you have to pay a second fee on top of that to see what you really want. Therefore, I've switched to Google Newspapers Archive for now; it's not as comprehensive or easy to use, but the whole site is free.

Then what can I say? You and I have different tastes in cartoons. Thanks for writing back!

Google Newspapers was a cool project that, unfortunately, Google abandoned some time back. It is virtually unindexed and several papers have been removed at the request of newspapers.com -- the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, among them. It was a great resource when you could just type a name or phrase into Google and get hundreds of links to newspaper articles, but now you're pretty much limited to opening certain issues and just browsing from page to page.

True, but when you're living on a limited income, you have to watch every penny.

And speaking of Michigan stations, WUHQ was on Channel 41, not 20. Sorry for the error!
