Three gunmen fatally shot a female owner of a radio station in northern Afghanistan early Wednesday, less than a week after another female reporter was gunned down in her house, officials said.
Zakia Zaki, the owner and the manager of Peace Radio in Parwan province, was shot seven times by pistol and automatic rifle fire in front of her 8-year-old son inside her house in the town of Jabalussaraj, said provincial Gov. Abdul Jabar Takwa.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately known, he said.
"The people were happy with her radio station, and she was providing information for Parwan, Kapisa and Kabul provinces," Takwa said.
Following the shooting, the gunmen jumped over the wall and fled, Takwa said.
