FCC Fines?

On the East Tenn. board it was posted that a small radio group got caught for moving their FM sticks without waiting on FCC approval and for not paying their filing fees, plus a few other little no-no's. The total bill came to about 25K, what if any do you think they will have to pay to get out of the dog house and will the FCC make them relocate the towers back to their previous location until they get final approval. Can the FCC take the license away from these owners or can they spend more in legal costs than the fines amount to.

just curious..

The FCC may not take their license away off the bat but they may not be able to renew under the "red light" rule if their fines remain unpaid.

If that happens will they just put the channels back on the auction block or be sold like a bankruptcy sale?

If in fact the licenses are revoked, the bandwidth will fall under standard rulemaking procedure, I do believe, which will eventually include an auction. But it'll be a VERY slow process. Those idiots should be ashamed of what they did.

$25k in fines is nothing compared to what legal costs will be to get the mess fixed. FCC Attorneys are incredibly expensive...they could run up ten grand in one motion, and it'll take lots to solve this mess.
