dht 19 in billboard hot 100

If there were never an original to this song, do you think things would be different for DHT right now?

Indeed! Congrats to all parties involed. Both the slow/acoustic (ala Candlelight Remix) version, as well as the Dance version, sound great on the radio.

Gut instinct has me saying "no", but either way I don't think the fact that it's a remake really adds much leverage to DHT's success with the song so far (whereas the ballad version most certainly does).

Dance remakes are far from rare and few ever see much mainstream action; I doubt it's a major factor here either. The original by Roxette was a respectable hit in its day, but it's hardly an all-time classic that we hear much from anymore.

One other DHT-related stat - it's currently #10 on Mediabase's mainstream CHR airplay chart. First time that's happened for a dance record in years.
