Looks like yet another Smooth Jazz station has bitten the dust. Martz Communications' The Oasis in Detroit, MI has announced via their Facebook page that the station has ceased operations as of January 31st, 2012.
The Oasis began its life on a translator on 104.7 FM (W284BQ), and was also available on WGPR HD-2. On October 18th, 2011, the station was forced off the air due to interference with WIOT in Toledo, OH.
A few months after the WIOT debacle, the station applied to return to the air via a translator on 93.5 FM, and later 92.7 FM. All references to the station were changed to 92.7 on their website to reflect the possible change. Unfortunately, that change never ended up taking place, and The Oasis shut down as a result.
Also shutting down is Modern Rock station The Bone, which broadcasted via a translator on 94.3 FM (W232CA). It was also available on WGPR's HD-3 channel.
