Ratings came out about 15 minutes ago, and there's one big story: DC101.
DC 101 rose almost a share and a half! They got all of the HFS listeners and then some, and they've gone from Clear Channel's worst FM performer 12+ to a virtual tie for the best. Note that there's also been some changes musically at DC101. Since HFS left the air, DC101 has moved away from hard rock. Also, they've re-emphasized their 90's gold, even playing stuff like Goo Goo Dolls' "Slide" that would have been much too soft for the station a year ago. It's working wonders as all the adults are coming back to the station.
WMAL off a bit. Conservative talk has lost a bit of its luster since the election. There's no one left for conservatives to rail against. Expect a little rise for them in Summer if the Plame scandal or the Supreme Court battle heats up.
WRQX off a little too, with their more-variety-but-still-Hot-AC experiment not working for them. Makes you wonder if Infinity will try a REAL variety hits station like Baltimore's Jack-FM here. Their classic rock Arrow was down almost a share.
El Zol had a bit of a disappointing full book debut. Much of its target still can't hear the station well because of 99.1's limited signal in Virginia. They did succeed in taking the vast majority of Mega's audience though. I wonder what's next for 92.7 and 94.3.
