Composit over IP

I have heard faint rumbelings that it is possible to send composit audio using a public IP connection. While the thought of doing this seems like a crime agasinst nature, does any one have any information or possibly experience (good or bad) accomplishing this miracle of technolgy? If it is doable, how much bandwidth does it require and then is it possible to send the same stream (RDS and all) to two or more locations?

Worldcast also makes a pretty good composite codec. You can easily transport a solid processed composite with even RDS insertion over a decent public Internet connection.
