Celebrating 8 years of HD Radios!

I found this interesting passage in "Radio's Digital Dilemma":

from: https://www.ideals.illinois.edu/bitstream/handle/2142/26240/Anderson_John.pdf?sequence=1
it was not until January 5, 2005 that Nathan Franzen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa became the first person in the U.S. to purchase an HD Radio receiver. The event made headline news in both Radio World and Current.

I wonder if anyone ever followed up with Mr. Franzen to get his review of the radio and to see what became of it. That was before FM HD multicasting (HD2/HD3 channels) was implemented, so if he remained an HD Radio listener, he probably soon replaced it with a newer multicasting-capable model.

I can't believe you're slogging through that. It's hyper-pedantic and sloppy round the edges (though it doesn't make it less true). The book will be a lot cleaner (and shorter), and will bring the story up through 2012.

I'm still struggling with boiling down the takeaways of the HD saga, both with regard to radio and on broadcast policy more generally...and also trying to bound prognostication. Suggestions are always appreciated.
