Bruce Holcombe passed away Feb 14th. Worked for WHP

Bruce Holcombe, of Susquehanna Township, passed on to eternal life on February 14, 2014 at his home after a long illness. He and his wife sandy celebrated 50 years of marriage on January 11 of this year. Bruce was a graduate of Ursinus College and served in the US Army as a military policeman. After a brief teaching career, he returned to his love of TV, Radio and Sports. He worked as a program director at WRAW in Reading, Sports director at WGSA-WIOV in Ephrata and then came to WHP-TV-Radio in 1970 where he spent over 20 years. He was a TV anchor, followed Ron Drake on a daily radio show and was The Country Gentleman mornings and Saturday nights. He was an original baseball announcer at City Island, long time announcer for Big 33 and field announcer for Milton Hershey and Susquehanna Township football. He was a member of the Harrisburg Rotary Club and the Executive Club and was inducted to the West Shore Sports Hall of Fame. In retirement he was known as "The Shoe Man" at a local department store and worked for the Middletown newspaper in advertising. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
