First - who gives a (BLEEP) that he left the caps on? Does that signify stupidity? If you answer 'yes' - spend sometime offline...geek.

Second - the Aruban Government HAS botched this case from the GET GO! Blood? Blood. Sure. No, wait. No. We tested it. Not. Wait! COULD BE! I don't know. "How rich is that little kid?"

3rd - We're talking about how ARUBA is handling THIS case. The debate isn't how some other Country is screwing up something. We're not talking about how if it were in America. Lets look at the specifics of the case. I can debate you on any part of it, as I am watching and reading everything about it. Not a lawyer, but I don't need to be to tell you that the Aruban Government is about as smart as Tom Sneddon.

4th - You people are acting as if Aruba deserves some noble award for doing not (BLEEP)! And you call JOHN an idiot for leaving CAPS ON.

jerry,

you make good points. and yes-- for a smug 17 year old-- a rubber hose might work-- or better yet-- how about a paddle when he was younger.

Aruba does not get 50% of its money from the USA. It gets 50% of its tourist income from the USA. The nation also has significant income from oil, banking and even agriculture and fishing.

> learn to speak
> the language when we need to know where a citizen is.

Nearly everyone does speak English, from passable to quite good. Nearly everyone also speaks Papiamento, DUtch and Spanish. The nation is polyglot, unlike the USA which is amazingly monolingual.

Nobody is requiring tourists go to Aruba.

Tourists who go to foreign places need to accept that outside the US is not the US (as dumb as it sounds, many do not get this... obviously including you).

Hey Uncle Sam,

Don't tell me what I get. I have an opinion on the topic. I think we as Americans, should stop giving them our money until they can act like grown ups and make a 17 year old confess.

And don't get me started on Dutch law-- if you are such an expert , tell me why those 2 Black Security guards were detained.

Because we want someone to pay. Aruba detained them to satisfy our nationwide thirst for every criminal to be a large black man.

Now that it is a "Pretty white boy" all of the sudden we should accept their slow process of law enforcement?

Oh yeah YOU DO because you think Natalee should continue to go missing because she "should have known she might get abducted" by a young white boy with a terrible haircut and a pig nose" on the peaceful island of Aruba.

And that if she wanted to be safe she should have stayed home.

The #1 drug hub from Colombia to U.S.

Aruba, like the Netherlands, from which they inherited thier penal code, does not permit torture to extract confessions. As a monor, it also affords a 17-year-old certain protection, just as monors have in the US.

Since there is no evidence, this is a difficult case.

>

Aruba is a quasi-independent member of the Netherlands federation, but makes its own laws which are based on, but not identical to, Dutch law.

Suspicion of complicity. Being Black in aruba is not a particularly unusual condition. Aruba, as well as Bonaire and Curacao, is racially so varied and diverse that no one pays much attention to skin color there.

The men were the security guards at the hotel and they appear to have given vague testimony about the events on the evening of the disapperance of the girl. In the Caribbean, everyone is a flight risk.

> Now that it is a "Pretty white boy" all of the sudden we

Since I have lived in the Caribbean for 30 years and you obviously have not, I guess you don't understand a society where color does not matter.
>

Caveat emptor. She was not with her chaperone, and in a foreign nation. S---t happens. It is unfortunate, but the case is only high profile because she comes from a wealth family from "over the mountain" in Birmingham. If she'd been from Irondale or Bessmer, no one would have even noticed.

> And that if she wanted to be safe she should have stayed

The US is less safe than Aruba, which essentially has no violent crime.
>
> The #1 drug hub from Colombia to U.S.

No, the #1 drug hubs are Mexico (for Southwest), Honduras (for Gulf Coast) and Puerto Rico (For eastern Seaboard... very nice, since it is part of the US). Aruba is not, as it is only a few km off the coast of La Guajira in Colombia, the departure point for most drugs. Why would a plane set down only a few minutes flight from its point of departure, on an island that is so small a few thousand people can comb it in 4 hours? Again: Aruba is only a few km off the coast of Colombia, and useless as a drug hub.

<div align="justify"><font color=brown>"First - who gives a (BLEEP) that he left the caps on? Does that signify stupidity? If you answer 'yes' - spend sometime offline... geek."<font color=black>

Hmmm. If I answer 'yes' - I'm a geek.. decisions.. decisions. In that case, I pick no. I simply could not live with the idea that you, an a anonymous poster to a radio board, would think I'm a geek. It does, however, make him look like he just got online this week and might start forwarding me emails that Bill Gates wants to buy me a new computer, or that a kid dying with cancer is collecting get well cards to get into the Guiness Book Of World Records.

<font color=brown>"Second - the Aruban Government HAS botched this case from the GET GO! Blood? Blood. Sure. No, wait. No. We tested it.Not. Wait! COULD BE! I don't know. "How rich is that little kid?"<font color=black>

I know you'll find this shocking and will probably even question my intelligence (and possibly my manhood) but.. are you ready? <u>I know next to nothing about the details of this investigation.</u> Yep. I am completely ignorant on this particular topic. What with the war in Iraq, global warming and The World Bank's problems, I've been distracted.

So why, you must be wondering, did I post at all. Quite simply, to amuse myself. You see, your petition is to "Ban Aruba". How exactly does one ban a country? Nuke it? Embargo it? Refuse to play Kokomo? What? If you explain that, you might get more signatures than the 19 you currently have.

<font color=brown>"4th - You people are acting as if Aruba deserves some noble award for doing not (BLEEP)! And you call JOHN an idiot for leaving CAPS ON."<font color=black>

Hey, I notice you say (BLEEP) a lot. What's that about? And I did not call John an idiot for leaving CAPS ON. You inferred it. So let me put your mind at rest and assure you that I don't think he's an idiot. Now you, I'm not too sure about.<P ID="signature">______________

But of course, these listeners probably never would have even known about Natalie's comments had these country stations not made a big deal out of it. And if she had made those same exact comments while a Democrat was president, you can be sure these listeners would be cheering her on, not asking for her group's music to be banned.

Eduardo,

You are the first "level -headed" poster I have had exchanges with.

I appreciate that. However , I do take issue with a few [points:

1. I am quite sure that if the security guards looked like tom cruise and brad pitt-- they would not have been held as long.

2. like it or not-- virtually everyplace on earth has color bias.

3. I keep hearing about it being a major drug hub-- ( i can't confirm for lack of evidence)

4. I think we've taken this conversation as far as we can . It is all speculative at this point.

Nice posting with you-- I learned a thing or 2--

Respectfully disagreeing, but still open to opinions,

John

A total no-brainer. I'm glad your vision isn't clouded like...uh...some people's.[/b]
