"Artist Experience", traffic, weather for a tabletop HD radio setup.

How do you setup a better quality audio tabletop HD radio with "Artist Experience" http://goo.gl/HkyhI traffic, weather http://www.ibiquity.com/automotive/new_mobile_service_providers HD radio features offered in automobiles?...

Or for example how do you setup on a tabletop with better quality audio one of the new HD car radio sets with "Artist Experience", HD radio traffic, HD radio weather, et al.

There aren't better audio quality tabletop HD radios with all the features currently available.

A bit vague, but if by "better" you mean one that works better, you will need to purchase an outdoor FM antenna system.

For better HD in a car, you will need to install a 31 inch whip antenna in the fender.

From my experience with the Artist Experience portable HD radio, the HD reception must be perfect for the entire time the station is sending out the album art, or else it won't display. So yeah, you'll need an outdoor antenna, and a whip antenna on your car to make the reception stronger. As for traffic and weather, just look outside!

...falling squarely into the "lipstick on a pig" category. HD and all that rides along with it (including Artist Experience) is only as good as its first dropout. When it falls back to analog, there goes the AE display. And do we really want or need yet another distraction for drivers, like displaying album art in a car dashboard?

I'm in the uncomfortable position of being an HD user, because HD-2 is the only place that has the formats I want to hear. My car radio has no album artwork, but there is a lot of text that I don't bother to read on the display. I wouldn't pay for album artwork on a car radio display - I knew HD reception is fragile at best, and I needed the best DX car radio on the market - Pioneer Supertuner 3D - along with a whip antenna on the fender. Even with that, I still get the IF image dropouts on stations on the top part of the FM band. And the dropouts are 5 to 10 seconds of dead silence. Somebody really didn't think this system through before they rolled it out. I can't decide which is more annoying - eating static while DX'ing, having satellite audio horribly compressed, streaming on my iPhone and having a call drop the stream, or having HD-2 go silent for 5 to 10 seconds until I clear a car tuned to the wrong frequency nearby. Take your pick they are all annoying as _____. All part of the territory, I guess, if you are an iconoclast that likes unpopular music formats.

You realize the concept of tabletop radios ended 40 years ago?

Unless the "artist experience" also provides sex or salvation, no one cares.

You guys must realize that thezak is just a shill for HD radio right? It might even be "The Bob"

I still try to give advise, so any possible shills on here know the real world of HD radio from a listener perspective.

Given the new Macklemore video, I think you're halfway there :)
