Al Gainey Show off Gainesville station

F

Al Gainey, who hosted a Saturday morning talk show on WDUN in Gainesville, has had the curtain fall on his show. Gainey was an extreme right-winger who would often fill in during weekday mornings as well for Martha Zoeller.

Gainey, who often preached anti-Hispanic, anti-woman, anti-gay rhetoric, may have crossed the line when he said on the air that slaves in the South had it made because they were provided a roof over their heads and food to eat.

The following week, Gainey announced his show was being cancelled as the station was going "in a different direction" on Saturday mornings.

Can somebody say "Don Imus".

I have a feeling there is going to be a big crackdown on these sort of things after the Imus flap.

According to the station's web site, Al Gainey is still on Friday mornings filling in for Martha Zoller. He has not left the station but he is no longer doing Saturday mornings.

As usual Freebird, your postings and biased rhetoric have no basis in reality or truth.

I didn't say I knew why it happened just that his Saturday show was cancelled shortly after the comment about slavery. It IS a fact he preaches bigotry on several fronts concerning Hispanics (of what there is a very large population in Hall County), women (anti-abortion rights, women shouldn't be running for president, etc.) and gays.
