Prolific sextortionist, 21, is sentenced to 35 years behind bars. Really?

Prolific sextortionist, 21 years old , is sentenced to 35 years behind bars for using blackmail to obtain nude pictures of 100 girls and women.

Dont you think 35 years for a first time offender who did not physically harm anyone is a little extreme? He must have had a bad lawyer team because to be sentenced to that long in prison when you are only 21 years old and this is something that could’ve been argued as being something consensual. It is just crazy to me.

My opinion may not be popular on here all the time but thats something im ok with Im just interested in what you guys think about this issue.

If I had any say-so about it (and I don't), anyone who is convicted of a violent or sexual crime against a child, regardless of whether or not a life was lost, would be automatically sentenced to death by public hanging. The sentence would be carried out within one year of conviction, with that time allowing his lawyers to appeal, which is his right. It would be the only crime that is eligible for the death penalty where a murder was not committed.

But in cases like this, once the prison population finds out about it, they'll take care of it in their own way, if you get my drift. Either way, this guy will not live to complete his sentence. I'm surprised Jared from Subway is still breathing, given what he did.

True but I remember there have been men who have took the law into their own hands because they heard of an allegation as seen in the link. Yes I feel Sorry for the men that resorted to vigilante justice because in some cases they had the intent of protecting the (Women or Children) accusers of being slut shamed in court. Instead you have men currently in prison or who did go to court and they have to explain that the dead sexual harasser/rapist lawyer is now slut shaming the hero and the hero were not prepared for that mainly because they feared at that point that if they didn't take action at the time they would be accused of not being a Samaritan or dropping the ball on the person they were trying to spare at the time. Is it any wonder why some countries have resorted to supporting Duterte type tactics.

Then there is a young (28) female teacher here in AZ who just received a 20 year jail sentence for having sex with a 13-year old male (multiple times if that matters). I'm pretty sure he didn't fight back. They didn't release his name but I would guess "Lucky".

OK, back serious now. A consensual act, even at 13, is vastly different than rape. Yes, she was way out of bounds but something tells me there is more to this story - perhaps some mental health issues that should be addressed? And give that 13 year old "victim" a few years and his opinion may be very different as well.
