She had suffered a series of strokes, and yesterday her family
finally decided to take her off of life support.

You make it sound like they wanted to long to make the decision. Shr had suffered the stroke and had a medical emergency on Monday that they cut her into the hopsital, which she was reported to be in a coma like state.

Well you didn't say it, but how you wrote your reply it seemed like that is what you were saying, is there really a lot of other ways of saying finally without making it sound like they wait too long in your opinion?
