  • K18JL-D 22.x Phoenix (HC2 LPTV Holdings Inc.) has requested a license to cover its construction permit to change towers within the South Mountain antenna farm. Technical specifications: Ch 23; TL 33° 19' 57" N, 112° 3' 59" W (South Mtn.); ERP 15 kW directional (1° electrical beam tilt); HAAT 442 m.

Programming Changes

  • KEJR-LD 40.x (32) Phoenix (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has dropped its duplication of Azteca America on channel 40.2 and now has only one subchannel, 40.1, on which it airs Azteca America.
  • KTVP-LD 23.x Phoenix (HC2 LPTV Holdings Inc.) has returned to air. It now identifies to PSIP as channel 23, instead of channel 22, as before. Infomercials air on channel 23.1, and channel 23.2 airs either infomercials, or no programming.

Construction Permits and Special Temporary Authorization (STA) Requests Granted

  • KPHO-TV 5.x (17) Phoenix (Meredith Corporation) has been granted a construction permit to maximize facilities, raising the location of the transmitting antenna to the top of the tower and switching from a directional antenna to a omni-directional antenna. The application was filed in May 2012. Technical specifications: Ch 17; TL 33-20-2 N, 112-3-40 W (South Mtn.); ERP 1000 kW non-directional; HAAT 530 m.
  • KESE-LP 35 Yuma (NPG of Yuma-El Centro LLC) requested and has been granted an engineering STA to operate at reduced power due to equipment failure. The system is operating at 55% of maximum power, or at 4.4 kW instead of the authorized 8 kW.

Construction Permits and STA Requests Requested

  • K28MO-D Gila River Indian Co (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) has responded to the FCC's instructions that Gila River resolve interference to KCOS-LP or have its application dismissed. The response provides further evidence that KCOS-LP is not currently broadcasting, and so, should have its license canceled so that the K28MO-D application can be granted. According to past Arizona Station Updates, KCOS-LP has not broadcast since August 2008.
  • KNTL-LP 47 Laughlin NV (Entravision Holdings LLC) has requested an extension of its Silence STA in order to finish its conversion to digital operations on channel 35.

Spectrum Repack

  • With the transition of KEJR-LD from channel 40 to channel 32, the 600 MHz band has now been cleared in the Phoenix metro area.

KNAZ, Rf 22, NBC Flagstaff and its' translator were off the air for a couple of days.
The translator, K06AE-D atop Mingus Mtn reappeared first, followed by KNAZ on
Rf 22. Both are now broadcasting in less than standard definition.

In some kind of record, KNAZ and translator, K06AE-D are now broadcasting,
once again in HD. The swift turnaround is appreciated by all.......
