But Will He Buy A Station Here?

Alex Meruelo, owner of the KDAY/KDEY combo, plus KLOS and KXOS in el Lay, wants to buy into the AZ Coyotes https://www.abc15.com/sports/report...uelo-close-to-becoming-coyotes-majority-owner This guy has money, so the Nurse and I wonder if he'll be looking to pair the Yotes with a station that won't bump the games around. hmmmm...think he'd like to buy into the Buckeye Media Hut, where we speak perfect Canadian?

Now we're getting somewhere. Back about 20 years ago, a guy named Dan Snyder bought the Washington Redskins, and then bought a bunch of radio stations in DC to carry his new team. Over the years, Snyder has backed off on running the team on his own station, and instead did a deal with CBS Radio. He has more recently sold most of those stations and still owns the Redskins. If Meruelo bought a station or two for his hockey team, that team would likely be a higher priority than it is currently. Not sure that would solve all of the other problems with the team, including the location of its arena. But finally we have a billionaire who is spending money on radio. If only a few more of them could get motivated, there might be other willing buyers besides EMF.

With ESPN Deportes shutting down on September 8, KBMB 710 might be available, although their night signal stinks to much of the SE Valley, where the hockey fans are. Probably depends on how long the Yotes' contract with TMISU has to run.

Then let's toss this thought out: Maybe Meruelo will move the team somewhere else.

He's known for hanging onto assets for a long time, and he said he's committed to Phoenix. The stadium issue won't go away until somebody can come up with the money to build somewhere in the East Valley, most likely Mesa or Scottsdale. There is comparatively little hockey support on the west side.

Why would anybody want a six stick Black Canyon City Ancient Modulation station? Let's face it, TMISU own the only FM Sports Parking Lot that can be heard everywhere in the Valley...and Black Canyon City!

Dr Akbar, just open a state-of-the-art Tim Horton's at the Hut that serves Molson's, and you can lure them right in!

Duly noted. We have several acres out back ideal for an ice rink. Nurse Jeff has already volunteered to drive the Zamboni.
