A Hot AC is generally distinguished from a CHR by what it does not play. Generally, no harder core hip-hop (and in some markets no hip-hop) is played, and some rock crossovers might not be played. Again, the balance is frequently based on the competitive stations in the market, the ethnic mix the stations want to reach, etc.
