This "Quad" content could be downmixed/encoded in the Sansui QS matrix
and broadcast using FM Stereo or HD radio or AM Stereo.

I recently attended a Dolby Atmos demonstration, and it's a bit more complicated than quad. The theater I was in had a series of speakers along the sides and the ceiling, as well as front and back. It's nice that a recording company is encoding their music for this application, but I'd guess that the market for it will be limited. We live in a time when a very small number of people are buying home theaters.

Yep, sound bars are prevalent. Throw stereo slightly out of phase, and it's 'surround' enough.
