Fidelity of AM-FM Stereo Radios in new Tivoli Audio Experience Showroom Newbury St.?

I was actually just there a few days ago. I honestly was not all that impressed. Tivoli radios seem to have good sound quality and do a nice job on FM, but on AM, not so much. I think they were designed for sound quality more than reception. I do have a Sangean WR-11SE, which is similar to the Tivoli Model One, but it does a decent job on both AM and FM, however sometimes when tuned into a weaker station, the audio will sometimes cut out. I'm not sure if it's a defect, or just how the unit was made.
