Most Francophiles would rightly discountenance that interpretation.

In my humble opinion the Eiffel Tower is a monument to the dreams and construction expertise of man. Walking underneath the tower, all alone, on a quiet Sunday morning (apparently no one in Paris gets up until around noon) is truly inspiring. But there is nothing supernatural about it.

In ancient times people put their hearts and souls into rocks, mountains, statues and fantasies (wait.....they still do). Turns out, when those run into trouble, people move on. The original is gone and can never become the original. If rebuilt Notre Dame will now become a replica, a tourist attraction, just like the White House.
