January ratings are out

Ignored the ratings last month due to the Christmas music distortions, but we now have the January numbers: https://ratings.radio-online.com/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb033

Interesting that The Bull has pulled slightly ahead of 93Q. All three country FMs are up a bit.

95.7 The Spot still in the threes. Gotta wonder if the station is starting to wear a little thin after a couple of years--seems Entercom is making a few tweaks. The Greggo bits in the afternoon are annoying. Not having any air talent had been a plus for the format.

SportsRadio 610 doubling the numbers of SportsTalk 790. ESPN 97.5 right in between the two.

Also interesting that The Eagle, with some of the oldest demos, has the highest rating among the streamers that show up.

And our favorite dumpster fire, KROI, sinks further into the zeroes. Memo to Urban One: Call EMF, Entercom, iHeart, Cox, Univision, and anyone else you can think of and start taking bids. P.S.: You won't get your $72 million back, but you'll stop embarrassing yourselves.

"Slightly"? The Bull is third overall in 18-34, while KKBQ is 9th. KILT is 2.2 full shares above KKBQ.

18-49 The Bull is 6th, KKBQ is tied for 10th.

KKBQ pulls ahead in 50+. Not enviable.

The Bull's morning show has very good increases across the board in the sales demo cells. KKBQ is off by a third since October in 18-34 in mornings, for example.

The differences in ratings noted above are because Mediafrog is referring to the freebie age-12+ numbers, while David has access to the paid (relevant) age 18-34 numbers. Both are correct, but 18-34 is what advertisers covet.

I'm thinking Sunny might actually be the cause of The Spot's trouble. It seems to be a "Best of the 80's" weekend -- every weekend, and with a much deeper playlist than you might expect.

That said, not following with the use of Grego either. He can be the right guy, but needs to be in the right role. The Jack FM in Nashville has nailed the 'brand ambassador' concept -- their guy (Moose) does around town updates, is the face of the station's social media and billboards, and is at every remote. I haven't heard these first hand, but according to his social media presence, Grego is doing commentaries on The Spot! Who listens to The Spot for commentaries?
