One Less Money Parking Lot For CRC

The parent company of KFNN & KFQN (CRC) is selling MoneyRadio 12~Hundred in Palm Springs. The deal includes a translator, but not Sports Parking Lot KXPS and its translator. Will this have any bearing on Money Radio 15~Ten? Doubtful as the Valley has beaucoup baby boomers who need help from financial advisors with ouija boards. $375k is not a bad price for an Ancient Modulation station in the backyard of the Old Gringo!

The problem with 1200 is that it is highly directional, and much of the East Valley has a noisy day signal and pretty much no night signal. While Phoenix as nice conductive sand for AM signals, the Coachella Vally has about the worst conductivity in the country... or on the planet.

$375 k is probably a correct price, depending on whether the transmitter site is owned or shared or leased. Amazingly, this $9 million dollar radio market has 53 AM, FM and translator operations. That averages out at about $20 k a month per station!

If it's the same Tom Hoyt, back in the day he was my Westwood One rep... he's seen a thing or two in the biz.

Nobody ever retires from radio. Once it's in your blood, you're in it for life.

Plus parts of it are downright butt ugly. Indio makes Blythe look good...and that's nearly impossible!

According to the sales agreement, studios and transmitter are leased. YIKES!
