http://www.kfvs12.com/2018/11/24/missing-man-out-massac-county-il-last-seen-paducah/

Apparently here more details on Taliaferro the report says he was at a restaurant in the Paducah area.

MASSAC COUNTY, IL — Your help is needed finding a missing 79-year-old Massac County, Illinois, man.

Deputies are looking for Raphael “Ray” Taliaferro. He was last seen near Mellow Mushroom in Paducah a week ago.

Taliaferro has had a long career as a successful radio journalist. He is in the National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame, and the organization’s Ray Taliaferro NABJ Entrepreneurial Spirit Award is named after him.

I know in the KRON article they mentioned that Taliaferro had dementia in the report as one of the factors why he went missing though.

Anybody who remembers Talifero's late-night KGO radio show will remember that he had a mind like a steel trap. Live "graveyard" shift talk radio is a difficult gig. Even on a 50K watt number one rated blowtorch, not many people call, so there is a lot of time to fill, and you have to keep the listeners interested. Ray could do that.

If he is suffering from dementia, it again proves that it can happen to anybody, and has very little to do with your IQ, or whether or not you do silly brain exercises.

He also worked on-air for KRON in the 1970s, and perhaps early 80's - when it was an NBC affiliate.

Here is more details of the disappearance of Ray Taliaferro

"Millions of people spent the night with Ray Taliaferro Monday through Friday 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.," said KGO Radio talk show host, John Rothmann said. "You couldn't miss Ray Taliaferro. His wonderful commitment to human rights, his wonderful commitment to San Francisco and his wonderful commitment to people."

He's considered a San Francisco legend.

"He's one of those talents that is bigger than life. He's one of the people that you just dream of being somebody like Ray," KGO Radio host Pat Thurston said. "Always true to himself. A heart of gold."

A missing persons flyer for Taliaferro warns he 'may be experiencing disorientation and signs of dementia.'

KRON4's Michelle Kingston spoke to authorities who say, Taliaferro and his new wife of six months were in Kentucky looking at property she inherited.

She told law enforcement that she was walking the property when she turned around and noticed Taliaferro had left in their rental car.

Here is another clue to the Taliaferro disappearance

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX) – Two weeks after he apparently vanished in Kentucky, the whereabouts of an iconic Bay Area radio talk show host remain a mystery.

New surveillance video shows the last time Bay Area radio legend Ray Taliaferro was seen in public. On the evening of November 10th, he knocked on the door of a church in Paducah, Kentucky, and spoke to the music director.

The video shows him talking for about 15 or 20 minutes

Award-winning journalist Bryan Monroe is a friend of Taliaferro’s family. He spoke to the church music director seen in the video with Taliaferro, who told him the retired radio host seemed confused.

“He seemed a little disoriented, but explained who he was; he said that he was a prominent San Francisco Bay Area radio host and was very talkative,” said Monroe. “He tended to repeat himself a few times. They stood by the door and chatted for a bit. And then he left at 5:01 p.m. on Saturday, Nov 10. That was the last time Taliaferro was seen.”

The longtime Bay Area radio host was a mainstay on KGO News Talk Radio 810 beginning in the late 1970s through his retirement from radio in 2011. Taliaferro is a broadcasting trailblazer, the first African-American major market radio talk show host in the country.

He was a leading voice among progressives and often focused on political issues affecting the U.S. and the state of California on his talk show. His family told authorities he had become forgetful lately.

Monroe said when Taliaferro disappeared, he was out of state in Bridgeport, Illinois — near the Kentucky border — visiting a property that his wife’s family owns. He drove off in their rental car shortly before the two were set to leave town.

You probably didn't mean to, but your use of the word "run-ins" implied that Taliafero had some kind of negative encounter with a guy in a church. The article makes clear that the musical director of the church just talked to Ray for awhile, along with another couple of people in the city of Paducah. That's all.

Here is an update on the Taliaferro death investigation

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) - Autopsy results have confirmed that no foul play was shown in the death of Ray Taliaferro.

Paducah Police Department released a statement on Tuesday saying an autopsy was conducted at the Regional Crime Lab in Madisonville.

Officials say the report has not been finalized but 'exposure to elements' could have played a factor in the 79-year-olds death.

Update on the Fallout

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KGO) -- The body of former KGO talk radio host and community activist Ray Taliaferro was found by two teenagers in a wooded area on Sunday, Dec, 02, 2018 in Paducah, Kentucky.

He was reported missing on November 10th. An autopsy found no signs of foul play, but his son thinks there's more to the story.

"I feel there was foul play in bringing him to that area to start with," Raphael Taliaferro, Ray Taliaferro's son said. "There's something going on."

Charlotte Crawford married Ray Taliaferro just a few months before he vanished. The two were looking at a property in Southern Illinois the day he disappeared.

Raphael Taliaferro has hired a private investigator to look into Crawford and his father's case.

Crawford is aware of the investigation, and through a family spokesperson, exclusively responded to ABC7 News about the issue.

"We are all so saddened at the loss of my beloved Ray and hope that all his friends and family can come together to honor the man and the legacy of a great pioneer," Crawford said in a statement.

"Her account was that my father drove away," Raphael Taliaferro said. "My father wasn't a driving person. He always caught a cab. He might have some colleagues that know that. Whenever he left the show he always caught a cab."
