Butte County fire swells to 18,000 acres, evacuations ordered

Paradise was a small mountain town of about 30,000 just east of Chico. My folks used to live up there as did lots of retirees. As of today, 11/9/2018, it is all gone according to reports.

Ought to be some cheap real estate out there now!
The insurance companies have got to have figured out that California has a problem with all these fires over the years.
Must be pretty rough being a mayor, police or fire chief, or other government parasite of a town that's, basically, burned to the ground.

These areas had to be on FEMA's radar as an area for a disaster. New Orleans was on FEMA's radar long before Katrina hit. It is 7 feet below sea level.
A fire like this shouldn't happen in America!
