Los Angeles Ratings

I'm sticking with my view that this was at a time when talk hosts weren't primarily political. What really killed MJ was that his style of informational talk became dull when compared to aggressive hot talkers. Tom Leykis, who also wasn't primarily political, was another host who put people like MJ and Larry King out to pasture. They were loud, fast talking, in your face, with a rock attitude. Now even Leykis can't get hired because he doesn't preach to the converted.

For those who never heard Michael, there are a couple of videos archived because they were C-SPAN simulcasts. This one is from the morning after the 1988 election, where Bush beat Dukakis:

30 years later, I'd like to have the option of a Michael Jackson today. But he's 84, and he's not coming back.

Can someone please remind me again why iHeart hired Lisa Worden? It must involve a skill set outside of radio (concert promotion, perhaps?). KROQ's numbers seem to be gradually improving whereas 98.7's seem to be flat-lining or declining.

Anyone know where I can find the morning drive ratings for the month? Thanks.

Daypart ratings are not part of the free general public release from Nielsen.

Any data that is actually of use is not given away... which is why we only get 6+ or 12+ numbers.

The closest one gets to any disclosure of daypart rankings is in Tom Taylor's "Now" column which appears the day after a market's PPM data release.

For the July 2018 ratings (which actually covered June 21-July 18) with selected, random daypart results (age 6+) included,
click the link below for Tom's newsletter from Tuesday 8/7/2018 and scroll down the page until reaching the ratings discussion for "Los Angeles":

Tom Taylor's weekday columns/newsletters are available via free email subscription.
