Latest July Radio Ratings

Any PPM market is a 24/7 metered market. There are specific ratings breakdowns for each weekend day as well as both given the very different listening habits across the weekend. And stations program to their demos differently on the weekends as well.

The non-subscribed numbers don't see that level of granularity as the broken down data is only contained in the subscribed reports themselves. Not the "public release" stuff.

What's really sad is some really big stations do not subscribe and their numbers are now no longer available to anyone....even subscribers. This makes the whole PPM product less relevant. Station's won't really know if there is a dark horse out there which they need to pay attention beyond what the report does show.

The advertisers and advertising agencies know, and that's what counts.

The local market reports show all stations that meet MRS requirements, which means a formula of cume and listening that generally means around 0.1. Further, any subscriber's facility (stream, analog, digital, translator) that gets any minimum mention gets listed at 0.1.

The only significant change is that unsubscribed out of market stations that don't meet a 0.1 cume rating requirement (If I read it right) don't get listed.

The PPM reports are not fixed time and demographic printed reports. They are computer generated, and there are thousands and thousands of reports that can be generated.

Want Hispanic Spanish Dominant Males 30-50 on Saturday from 9 PM to 1 AM? You can ask the Nielsen PPM Analysis Tool for it. Same for broader standard demos and times, like Persons 25-54 Sunday 10 AM to 3 PM.

We can even ask for periods as granular as quarter hour periods on specific days or sets of days, using a grid to pick starts and stops. This is useful in showing listenership to sports broadcasts that have different play dates, times and durations.

If the sample is not large enough for the analysis you ask for, then the software tells you.

It is too bad that on weekends that they don't keep track of what radio stations gets radios wise on Saturdays and Sundays,

Radio ratings, whether PPM based or diary based, record listening 24/7. The data is copyright and not released to the public except for the broad overview Monda-Sunday 6 AM to Midnight that is given to the press.

But it would still be nice to know about the ratings for weekend shows on stations, even through there there aren't really done many stations that have I believe local talk shows on weekends expect for WGN and WCPT
