Facebook suspends Alex Jones for 30 days

So pretty much the only options available are the ******** app and Twitter.

Apparently the Jones show isn't ad supported, so there is no ad boycott.

RadioInk has an article today from a broadcast lawyer on the subject:

If you are wondering what child endangerment, hate speech, bullying, harassment thats being tied to Jones its the Sandy Hook Rants, THe Pizzagate Rants, The Chobani Rants and the Vaccine rants

An update now the FCC shuts down a pirate affiliate carrying Alex Jones Show.

. AUSTIN, Texas — The Federal Communications Commission has shut down a pirate radio station that served as the flagship outlet for conservative conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

The Austin American-Statesman reports the FCC also has fined the station’s operators $15,000 — a fine the FCC says in a lawsuit the operators are refusing to pay.

The lawsuit filed in federal court in Austin alleges Liberty Radio operated on a channel without a license since at least 2013. The lawsuit names as defendants Walter Olenick and M. Rae Nadler-Olenick.

Court documents show the FCC had tracked the transmissions to a 50-foot tower at an Austin apartment complex owned by an entity linked to the Olenicks.

Lots of people talking about the first amendment without actually reading what it says. It only says "Congress shall make no law." This isn't Congress making laws, but private businesses using their terms of service. Sure none of the social media sites want to get into restricting speech, but some of this has gone beyond what these sites were meant for.

I congratulate you for taking time to read the Constitution.

As a practical matter, rights mean nothing if they cannot be exercised.
The reality is that pretty much ALL political speech and debate takes place over the internet in 2018. If private companies (which, you'll have to admit, each have their own biases and agendas) have the power to control what speech does and does not go out on the web, then the First Amendment is, for all practical purposes, dead.

The view of us on the Right frankly is that the Left has gotten very clever and figured out
a way to outsource the censorship of our speech to private business. Something that
Conservatives would traditionally defend as we tend to stand up for private enterprise.
(Saul Alinsky called this "hoisting them on the petard of their own virtue"....how I do wish
more people would read his book).

This is a conundrum that must be solved.

Apparently this boycott stems from Alex Jones allegations for evidence destruction allegations.

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones intentionally destroyed evidence as pressure steadily mounted from pending defamation lawsuits and "growing public indignation," according to a court motion filed Friday by families of Sandy Hook murder victims.

Jones and his ******** media group face lawsuits for claiming that the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school mass killings in Connecticut were staged by the government and that the 26 people slain were fictitious creations in an elaborate hoax.

The latest court action against him, filed in Travis County, Texas and first reported by the New York Times, alleges that ******** "intentionally deleted a variety of social media pages and video content relating to the Sandy Hook shooting." Lawyers for the Sandy Hook families discovered the intentional destruction of evidence earlier this month, according to the court motion.

The pages and the videos were being sought as evidence against Jones in the ongoing defamation cases. Jones had been informed by lawyers for the plaintiffs that he was required by law to preserve the information as part of standard evidence rules in court cases, the motion said.

"Relevant evidence has been lost," lawyers for the families said in the court filing. "As pressure mounted . . . Mr. Jones chose to destroy the evidence of his actual malice and defamatory conduct."

******** did not respond to an email sent by USA TODAY, seeking comment on the allegations.

Jones, who also has claimed that survivors of the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting were actors, has been increasingly under fire. Twitter suspended the personal account of ******** for one week Tuesday for violating the social media company's rules against inciting violence.

YouTube, Apple, Facebook remove 'Alex Jones Show'

The social network said in a statement that Jones' account "currently has limited functionality." Jones was told the account would regain full functionality seven days after the removal of a tweet with "a broadcast in violation of our rules."

The decision was made after Jones tweeted a link to a video calling for supporters to get their “battle rifles” ready against media and others.

In the latest court filing, lawyers representing families of two Sandy Hook victims asked a judge to impose punitive sanctions, possibly a fine, against ********.

This is traced to the Sandy Hook rants.

Some say that tech is banning speech, but the fact is there are lots of alternative platforms available.

No one's banning speech. It's just another version of NIMBY.

Other staff members, Owen Shroyer, LeAnn McAdoo and David Knight are still on there too.

Yes also Youtube and others that ended or Suspended Alex Jones shows had a right to do what was in the best interests of their investors. Likewise Bitchute and Gab claim to be fighting censorship if you read the wikipedia profiles but in reality they are just attracting their demos.

Gab is an ad-free social network dedicated to preserving individual liberty, the freedom of speech, and the free flow of information on the internet. A free and open internet is essential to the future of a free world. Freedom is creative. It produces. It generates. From freedom flows truth, beauty, wisdom, and growth.

Censorship and closed systems are ultimately about two things: destruction and control. Censorship does not create value, it annihilates it. It corrals human thought into the direction of its choosing. It attempts to bend the global consciousness to its will. This has always historically been the case. Censorship is nothing new.

The difference is we don't have to stand by and watch it happen. We don't have to watch the free and open internet be manipulated by 4-5 smug elites in Silicon Valley.

The internet belongs to We The People. Period.

Together we can preserve something incredible for generations to come. A human achievement so great it challenges the status quo and power of the global elite: the fundamental human right of expression.

There is none more powerful in this world than the storytellers. No amount of money, human resources, or time can stop them or their ideas. The goal of censorship is to silence the storytellers, the truth seekers, the contrarians, the artists, those who question the status quo. We cannot stand by and watch this continue to happen.

This will not be an overnight battle. It will likely be a 5-10 year digital, cultural, and information war. We can and will win. We've built an incredible community of amazing people who share our values and cherish liberty. That is why we will continue to win. Join us and help keep the internet great for generations to come.

Here is a PR Statement Gab has made about this. Note this is a marketing ploy for gab to attract an audience away from other companies mentioned on this thread specifically.

Today the president said social media companies are censoring conservatives:

https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-n...-media-companies-censor-conservatives-n901876

That's not true. Millions of conservatives are free to speak their views on all social media platforms, including the president himself. The particular person who is being targeted isn't being banned for expressing political views. He's being banned for knowingly defying the terms of service. They agreed to follow those terms of service when they signed up, and they are breaking that agreement. It's a very different situation. What's interesting to me is that no conservative or Republican officials have agreed with the president.

Indeed, Fox News and Breitbart are among the top publishers on Facebook. The complaint seems to be that Facebook isn't force-feeding conservative content to users who didn't ask for it; thus those hapless individuals aren't being told "the truth".

But from what I understand, that use of social media hasn't changed.
