K-Love on 96.7 added an HD signal over the past few hours. It is broadcasting Air1 on HD2. Their audio seems to be very good.
Those with HD radios, is their signal getting out well in the Metro area?
89.5 is a hard catch in Philly proper, I can barely get their HD1 and on a rare occasion the Classical format on the 2, where-as the 106.9 signal is a true flamethrower.
As EMF progresses I would not be surprised if in markets where they have the hardware to turn on HD they do and put Air1 on HD-2 if they don't already have a full power Air1 station in the market. I am guessing it was an easy move in NYC with 96.7 being a fairly new plant they already had the transmission equipment to turn on the HD signal just had to pay the "fees" and fire it up. Plus they now say they have Air1 in that market (even if it's HD).
I wonder if they'll add HD2 and Air-1 in Hartford. 106.9 WCCC was one of the the first stations in Hartford to go HD. They were using the HD2 to simulcast their AM sister Classical Station. However as Marlin Broadcasting was bleeding money they eliminated the HD.
