Highway Radio is streaming once more.

I'm starting to hear that a lot of stores and restaurants are building radio studios as tourist attractions. Leads me to believe that the next step for a lot of stations that are breaking even is to make deals like this. Not unlike the remote broadcasts stations did from car dealerships. But this would be on-going.

The international crowd gets goes via McCarran, not the I-15. And, per CalTrans, traffic on that freeway is constantly on the rise.

While the Highway Stations audience is not centered on the local population (for some of the transmitters, there is none), the Victor Valley MSA population in 2000 was 544,000 and in 2017 the ACS says it is 574,000 and by 2022 it will be 621,000. Hardly dying.

As for luxury, entertainment, casino-hopping, restaurants, buffets and other things to do, there is nothing like the Las Vegas experience. That is why the market is expected to grow by 200,000 persons in the next 5 years.
Sure Clark County is expanding and so is Victorville. But beyond Barstow the surrounding areas just aren't thriving, its 157 miles of nothing except for a few new buildings producing Marijuana products. My town alone is projecting thousands of new jobs yet there is no place to buy a piece of fruit. With the advent of 4G wireless in the Car, Smartphones, OnStar and XM Traffic & weather information I don't see the opportunity that Anderson & Hughes envisioned, I don't know that anyone really does?

I don't see anyone rushing out to build tourist attractions around any of those things. Do you?

The opportunity for Highway Radio is the same as existed at its inception: information on shows, events, hotels and attractions in Las Vegas interspersed with music and the occasional traffic report. With today's ease of communication, information can be rapidly updated.

Radio is still easier to use while driving than most online options, and is easy to promote with simple-to-find "addresses".

No I don't seem to have an optimistic view about the growth rate in the Death Valley Metro area and the rest of the Mojave. I do think $600,000 was a bargain for the current owner. I remember 30 years ago listening to FM 98 & 99 clearly in Las Vegas. If a Los Angeles signal ever existed this could have been a real L.A. to Las Vegas Network, as it is the Highway Stations had some high profile Los Angeles Sales offices with no one to sell to?
