Sportsmen and women depend on legendary Georgia outdoorsman, author, and media personality O’Neill Williams. Williams speaks directly to hunters, fishermen, campers, hikers and adventurers alike. After graduating from Emory with a degree in economics and entered the food industry. He soon discovered that he like telling stories about hunting and fishing more than talking about hot dogs. He began hosting an outdoor sports program on cable. That program is still on the air on outlets including NBC Sports, Destination America, Fox Spots South and Fox Sun Sports Network. In 1991, O’Neill began hosting “O’Neill Outside” on WSB. It continues to entertain and inform listeners on WSB, WSBB FM and is syndicated on 180 radio stations.
Every Saturday morning, green-thumbed listeners headed to their yards, gardens after tuning in Walter Reeves, The Georgia Gardner. Reeves grew up working on his family’s farm in Fayette County. He vowed to never work on a farm again. After graduating from college, Walter began hosting a 15-minute program on V-103 in 1980. In 1984 he moved to WGST; in 1994 he became host of WSB’s “Lawn and Garden Show”. In January of 2018. He celebrated 24 years on WSB. Reeves is the most respected garden guru in the southeast. He has authored nine books, writes a weekly column for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and distributes a bi-weekly email gardening newsletter.
The 12 Annual Georgia Radio Hall of Fame Induction Awards will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Callaway Conference Center in LaGrange, Georgia. The program will also feature induction of Legacy Georgia Radio professionals (no longer living) *. The event features the first announcement of the 2018 Career Achievement Inductees selected in voting by Georgia Radio Hall of Fame members.
The evening consists of a reception from 5 until 6:30 PM, dinner from 6:30 until 8:00 PM and awards program beginning at 8:00 PM. Dress: Coat and tie for gentlemen and the equivalent for ladies. The vent is open to the public; tickets will be available soon.
