Alex Jones Is Facing Two Lawsuits From Sandy Hook Families

I don't think they liked him. Maybe he should have gone to a biker bar!

An Update on the Alex Jones Lawsuit

A Superior Court judge Monday accused Norm Pattis, the lawyer for Alex Jones, of submitting a false affidavit allegedly signed by the controversial radio show host, and took the unusual step of referring him for possible disciplinary action.

Jones is being sued by families of victims from the Sandy Hook school massacre, who charge that the host of the Infowars internet radio program spent years perpetrating the attack as a hoax.

The rare rebuke by Judge Barbara Bellis is just the latest skirmish between the court and Jones or his lawyers over discovery issues and other matters in a lawsuit filed by the Sandy Hook families.

The skirmish continued on Monday as lawyers for the families filed a new motion seeking to extend the deposition time for Alex Jones and also asked permission to depose his father David Jones because they don’t believe that documents about the company’s marketing and financial data has been produced.

On March 22 Pattis submitted an affidavit indicating that it was personally signed by Alex Jones. The-one page document indicated that Jones thought all discovery documents had already been produced and that he authorized Pattis to "rectify the situation.'

If I were Alex, I'd get another lawyer. And go for a jury trial. The defense attorney needs to point out that talk radio is for entertainment purposes only. And that you could listen to music, religion, news, whatever. You could bring in representatives of other talkers to corroborate this.
And that the plaintiffs chose to listen to Jones on their own and were not forced or coerced to listen to his rants. They simply could have listened to someone else ...or even watch television.

Wait one second the plaintiffs are not Alex Jones listeners they are Sandy Hook victims being harassed by Alex Joneses fans. The people suing Alex Jones accuse that Info Wars of sending their fans to harass them.

They would have to prove that. Might be difficult to prove unless one of the harassers was apprehended.
Besides if I told you to go out and hurt someone, would they come after me? Probably not.
You are responsible for your own actions.

But if people are stupid enough to believe him and act on it, then he deserves to be sued and possibly even prosecuted.

Update Facebook has removed people they deem to spread "hate speech" Alex Jones is one of the people mentioned

Right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan are running out of places to espouse their views online.

Facebook banned these high-profile personalities and several others from its social media platforms Thursday, becoming the latest tech company to officially declare them persona non grata. Many of them have already been banned from Twitter, YouTube and Apple's Podcasts app.

In addition to Jones and Farrakhan, Facebook also kicked out right-wing extremists Milo Yiannopoulos, Laura Loomer and Joseph Watson, who works for InfoWars; white supremacist Paul Nehlen, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2016 and 2018; and Jones's company, Infowars. The groups will also lose their accounts on Instagram, which is owned by Facebook.

"We've always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology," Facebook said in a statement, according to The Verge. "The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today."

Also an update on the Sandy Hook lawsuit

The attorney for a Sandy Hook parent suing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones in a Travis County court is seeking to have the controversial radio host’s lawyer removed from the case for making incendiary statements about him on Jones’ show InfoWars, which he fears could provoke reprisals from an audience he characterized as dangerous.

Houston attorney Mark Bankston, who represents parents of children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in three different lawsuits against Jones for claiming on InfoWars that their children’s murder was a hoax, said in a motion filed this week that comments made by Los Angeles-based attorney Robert Barnes on Jones’ show had placed Bankston and his wife at risk. The couple have already been victims of harassment, Bankston said.

Explaining his concerns, Bankston said in the motion that he has reviewed tens of thousands of emails sent to InfoWars and he “was stunned at the number of disturbed and mentally ill individuals that have fixated on InfoWars and the narratives pushed in their videos. There have been numerous harassing and indeed violent confrontations between unhinged InfoWars fans and the targets of Mr. Jones’ conspiracy theories.”

Will he has won many of these cases.I know alot of you are in MSM but I'm for total free speech with no censorship for all sides a not only one side which is the narrative of MSM which is the left side .Thank goodness I not part of it now.

He was on there last night (5-5) and he was more concerned with being cast in the same lot as Louis Farrakan and Milo Yiannapolis.
If you've ever listened to Jones he's more like Limbaugh and Hannity.
I'm sure the Salem station here would have dropped him by now if he were as bad as Farrakan and Yiannapolis.

I have listened to AJ when I get time,Entertaining and funny . I thought he was satire like Phil Hendrie until I looked him up years ago. ,Rush and others can get boring since they are clamped down with their bosses and sponsorship.

Smart move AJ did is to have his own products so he wont loose any sponsorship as he goes off his rocker.
How come other dont do the self product support and open up on the air.

That's what I had heard too. Apparently the allegations would not stand up in a court of law. But we all know that talk radio is for entertainment purposes only. I even heard a disclaimer regarding that while tuning around one night.
But his recently banning from Facebook only adds fuel to his rhetoric as he crusades against the "internet gestapo."

Says who? How about posting a link.

Suits have been filed, hearings have been held, no decisions have been reached yet. That's what this thread is about.

I dont know why the social media ban of AJ is coming up in the news this past weekend. He was kicked off most social media platforms such as ,YouTube,FaceBook and Twitter last year some time.

Pretty sure he was technically suspended from those sites and most recently, officially banned.

Personally I'm a proponent of free speech too, but not when someone is leveraging that free speech and effectively lining their pockets by exploiting the pain and suffering of parents who lost their young children in a horrific tragedy.

New York (CNN Business)A Connecticut judge on Tuesday sanctioned right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for suggesting that a lawyer for the Sandy Hook families, who are suing the InfoWars founder for his past claims that the 2012 shooting was staged, tried to frame him with child pornography.

The ruling, handed down from Bridgeport Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis, came after attorneys representing several Sandy Hook families in their lawsuit against Jones filed a motion on Monday asking the judge to review footage of Jones lambasting one of the attorneys in a Friday segment.
Bellis called Jones' behavior on the broadcast "indefensible," "unconscionable," and "possibly criminal behavior."
Bellis sanctioned Jones by denying the defense the opportunity to pursue special motions to dismiss moving forward in the lawsuit. The court will also award attorneys fees and filing fees to the Sandy Hook families' lawyers related to the issue that Jones went off about in his broadcast: child pornography that Jones' team inadvertently turned over to the plaintiffs.
Jones is being sued by families of Sandy Hook victims in both Texas and Connecticut courts over his past claims that the 2012 shooting was staged. He has since acknowledged that the shooting was real. At the hearing, a proposed trial date of November 2020 was settled on by both sides and agreed to by the judge.
