Word yesterday that Jim Edwards (Heddle) passed away.
He worked here in town at Scripps radio. Traffic, news, production and weekend/fill on MIXfm.
Across town at Citadel/Cumulus before that in a similar utility roll?
A short stint as radio Play By Play for the Ice Cats?
Truly a radio guy. A wealth of knowledge, oldies music, call letters/formats and jocks who worked where and when, plus his collection of old Top 40 countdown show audio and the old weekly hit lists from various stations.
Good guy and about as genuine as they came.
Blurb from a Michigan message board:
Jim grew up in and first worked in radio in Ann Arbor. He migrated west and worked at AM1340 WLAV when it was an oldies station in the mid 80's, then worked several years at WODJ under the moniker of Big Jim Edwards. Nice guy who really knew his stuff and was passionate about radio and music. May Jim RIP
