Herb Weisbaum "Retires" From KOMO

As I'm living out of the market, and it wasn't otherwise noted here, looks like about two months ago Herb Weisbaum "retired" from his midday news shift at KOMO 1000. He's staying on at KOMO, doing consumer segments (is he still doing any work for KOMO4).

He's really a market legend ... a tremendously versatile reporter and anchor, on both TV and radio. He's was absolute gold when he anchored PM Drive on KOMO Radio with Jane Shannon for a few years, and was even better when he used to fill in alongside Lisa Brooks before KOMO let her out. He's a KOMO 1000 original, with his original role as the afternoon business reporter. And we can't forget his long stint at KIRO7, working as a reporter and fill-in anchor.

Herb is a Seattle star. Was great on KIRO-TV, and while I don't recall him on KOMO-TV, I'm sure someone will. But his versatility on radio was a great plus. He has a great radio voice, and if not mistaken, has syndicated his reports for other radio stations around the country. I hope his retirement is his decision. But either way, thanks Herb for your great accomplishments in the Seattle market.

Herb most recently was the 1pm-3pm anchor and yes, he did "retire" from anchoring duties at KOMO Radio but not from broadcasting. As noted he still does consumer tips and will be filling in when needed. He's been off Channel 4 for some time now.

Ok, that answers my question, Taylor VanCise is replacing him. Taylor was out earlier this week and someone else was filling in, can't remember who. Can't even remember why I had the radio on at that time, as that's not a time I usually listen.

Were you listening this week? Rick would be the logical choice as he anchors the noon hour, but I'm not sure that's who it was.
