Saw this list yesterday. Interesting that WHAS and WGTK both want 93.5. WKRD could use a translator since their signal at night is not very good and it would help with hearing the U of L sports that they air.Wonder why CC didn't apply for a translator for WKJK 1080? And why does WAKY need another translator? I think that 106.3 will make about 5 of them they have.

Hopefully the FCC won't be dumb enough to grant them a CP for it. Is there no other frequency available for them to operate on??

100.5 would work and is an option according to this site. https://www.fcc.gov/maps/amr-channel-finder/

Although you can hear WLGX here in Lexington often.
It could work, although they may face some opposition from WCYO, a first-adjacent. WKQQ would be a second-adjacent there too, so they might be leery of that. Also depends on which tower they want to put it on. Most likely the WBUL stick over off Trade Center Drive.

That’s true. Yeah the application calls for the station to be on the Bull tower. No where near the height that WVLK was.

102.9 was another choice but there is a 102.9 in Winchester now so that has to be out. But then again there is a 92.5 in Lexington and in Richmond. 😳

Does anyone know when these applications turn into CP’s or will be approved?

It seems like most of the time (especially with the Clear Channel ones) they never do, and end up just getting moved to somewhere in a totally different market.

92.1 HAWESVILLE KY HANCOCK COMMUNICATIONS, INC. WKCM Hawesville

Bud has weaseled through more translators in that area all in the name of "Serving The Community". He even made a big deal on how his poor WTCJ Tell City, Indiana was "suffering" from being on AM so the translator rules needed to be changed for poor ol him. The WTCJ situation was an AM he purchased twenty years ago essentially abandon. The signal on AM doesn't carry as far as it used to due to that abandonment, the same goes for his first station WKCM. Speaking of WKCM, he has three translators for that one utilizing the HD loophole. Plus he already has three signals licensed on FM in that area he moved to Owensboro. But Bud is the victim here in the eyes of the FCC.

Long story short I was told commercial LPFM couldn't happen because it threatened "Spectrum Integrity" and here we are.

The FCC has set the thirteen mutually-exclusive translator application groups that will go to auction following the end of the settlement period with a date to be announced later. The groups of translator applications going to auction and minimum bid are:

93.5 Louisville KY – iHeartMedia’s 840 WHAS and Salem Media’s 970 WGTK – $35,000

Still haven't seen any updates with WLAP trying to be on 101.1.

These arent lpfms.. they're translators... which can be commercial, lpfms cant.. theres a big difference between lpfms and translators

Guess WHAS lost the bid for 93.5? Still no WLAP on 101.1
