But who knows for how long. Too bad the Vietnamese format is not working out for him. And maybe its up for sale.
Besides the only Vietnamese I ever knew, spoke perfect English (and she had awesome ...).

1550 IMHO is what could have been. The nighttime signal would have been a decent urban station in the 1950’s and 1960’s until V 103. They were the original AM “sister” for 94.1. When 80-90 and the deregulation of the late 1970’s happened, they could have gone much bigger wattage with a nighttime site somewhere northwest of Marietta. There was still farmland in northwest Cobb in the 1980s. The other two GA users of 1550 are (were) day timers that the old 1550 already protected along with Huntsville at the old Shopping center site. 1550’s night service most likely would have had a “critical” pattern with four or more towers to protect Canada and Huntsville. 1010 WINS only has 4 towers and is a lot closer to Canada on a lower frequency with 50 KW in NYC so protecting Canada and Huntsville at night with at least 5KW wouldn’t have been impossible. The crappy ground conductivity allows 1070 in both Birmingham and Chattanooga (Lookout Mountain) both have 50 KW. There still were a lot of cars with AM only radios on the road in the early 1980’s

IMHO: It would not be cheap to build and engineer, but 24 hour signal in Atlanta would have been worth serious money in the early 1980’s.
