More translators

Mrtejano

Star Participant
Looks like Centro Cristiano is at it again, using different names like FUENTE DE VIDA CONROE INC, CENTRO DE FE Y AVIVAMIENTO DEL SANTO ESPÍRITU INC, CENTRO MUNDIAL DE FE INC,

with translators in CONROE 94.9 FM, 95.3 FM, 96.1 FM, 99.5 FM on 2 different locations.
102.5 FM, 103.3 FM.

These are not translators, but rather LPFMs that have been in the pipeline for several years. These may never get built.

It’s amazing the FCC puts up with this crap.

You don't seem to understand the FCC writes the rules, approves the stations after they submit paperwork to show they will not exceeds the rules the FCC write, and then issues the license. In fact the applicants even file during the time frame the FCC dictates. So, it seems the only thing the FCC puts up with is what the agency was created to do in the first place: set up the rules and enforce them.

Get ready for more: more translators are being approved daily and a new filing window for AM stations to get an FM translator is coming up in less than 10 days. I suspect all the good spots are long gone in Houston, so new applicants will likely be relegated to serving more cows than people but then again, having a translator does mean if something opens up later, you can try to move it. If the LPFM history has taught us anything, about 30% of LPFM stations turn in their license, usually beyond the initial 3 year period where the FCC lets them transfer it to another local non-profit, if one can be found.

The rules allow it....but several take advantage and run more power than legally licensed for or originate programming direct rather than using the licensed parent station (94.1 is one)
Hate them or like them, they are there to stay unfortunately

I am listening to Radio Aleluya on 89.7 FM battling with Alvin’s station.

You are hearing KTYR in Trinity, Texas, which runs Radio Aleluya. Transmitter is located between Huntsville and Crockett, Class C1.

Just hearing marginal KACC on 89.7 at my Cy-Fair location, but tropo from the north would probably bring in KTYR.
