Warm 106.9

I note that Warm 106.9 has lifted our slogan that we've had for over 20 years on Sunny 102.1 - "Todays Hits, Yesterdays Favorites". We are flattered out here on the coast.

I also note that KJR-FM for some time now has billed themselves as "The Jet". That's been our slogan on KJET for over 15 years. We're getting posts intended for KJR.

Similar situation between KITI "Live 95" (95.1) in Centralia, and KBFF "Live 95.5" in Portland. The "Mix" name has also been redundant with 96.1 KXXO Olympia, and at separate times. Mix 100.7, Mix 95.7, and Mix 92.5 in Seattle.

"Today's Hits, Yesterday's Favorites" is hardly original and has been in play for longer for 20 years.

Not to mention, if that has been used for over 20 consecutive years, it may be time to update.

Not surprising given the names and geography.

Tough crowd... but I totally agree with Kelly A

I thought 95.7 "The Jet" would have gotten the idea for their nickname from KJET. History and heritage in the market, y'know.... Then again? Maybe not.

You're kidding right? That positioner had been used by Sandusky when KLSY was on the air. And by a million stations across the country before that. I seriously doubt Ron Harrell has ever heard of Sunny, so the thought that he's stealing ideas from you is laughable.

So basically you guys have NO sense of humor and claim to be in an "entertainment" industry.
I'm starting to see why radio is in the .... what was that word that the President just used??

Yep...could not agree more. The 'experts' have no sense of humor...in a way I can't blame them. Radio is dead for them too...it just hasn't sunk in yet. (There was a time when radio did entertain, but when consolidation happend after Telcom 96, the bean counters (along with debt managers) came in and ruined the golden goose.)

Yup, a serious bunch out there...

So to get serious, I believe the call letters KJET at one time belonged to an AM station in Seattle. It then migrated to an AM station in Hoquiam. Then, in a multi-station call letter swap in Grays Harbor close to 20 years ago (which I was a part of), my new 105.7 frequency ended up with the KJET calls. I intend to keep these calls as long as I live, or until someone offers $$$, whichever comes first.

Re: slogans - at some point in the history of the city some now call "the socialist republic", Seattle was transformed from the QUEEN city to the JET city... this in deference to the Boeing presence... what came next?

And continuing the serious vein, Boeing began in Grays Harbor, not Seattle. Why is it totally ignored in the story Boeing tells? Bill Boeing once owned a good share of what is now Ocean Shores as his private hunting refuge, and he was in the lumber business. Boeing Hoquiam manufactured airplane parts during WWII. Look it up.

Perhaps we have become too used to social media and forums like this one being used for arguing things into the ground. :)

That would be "The Emerald City" in the 80's which personally I thought was dumb.

But isn't the original Boeing Barn, which was restored in the original location as part of the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field, the original location for Boeing Aircraft? Bill Boeing had property in Grays Harbor and indeed owned a lot of Ocean Shores (aka Open Sores), but I wouldn't necessarily say that Boeing Aircraft was headquartered there.
