WQAM & WAXY

With three under performing Sports stations (not counting one in Spanish) in a less than thriving Sports Market does Entercom plan to keep both WQAM and WAXY or consolidate to one brand? While one group running two stations in the same format can be strategic it seems like they hurt each other in this case. WQAM has more heritage, and seems to be top of mind when it comes to Sports in South Florida over WAXY and WINZ.

WQAM reportedly outbills WAXY by nearly 4 to 1, so I'd say the odds on it being the survivor if anything is done are high. However, what else can be done with an AM in the market? If both can be profitable, then both will stay.

This is tough because WQAM does have a heritage of being a Sports station for 25 years. At the same time, WAXY has South Florida's most-listened-to sports show, Dan LeBatard and Stugotz (and I listen to them all the time).

WQAM does lead over WAXY but its not by much... 1.4 vs. 1.0 respectively so this one is a head-scratcher as to what Entercom will do with them.

They will keep both stations sports. Whatever teams they dont put on QAM they'll put on WAXY. No point in letting iHeart's tiny sports station get any momentum or programming. It's a good move to make no format change
